I can’t remember a time when I wanted to be something other than a speech-language pathologist when I grew up. Both of my parents have been deaf since infancy, so I grew up hearing stories about how wonderful their speech-language pathologists were. I even remember my grandmother telling me that my Dad’s childhood SLP traveled to Mississippi for my parents’ wedding. That was the kind of long-lasting bond they had.
So thanks to my parents and their disability, I am one of the lucky ones who gets to do what I love every day.
I don’t think I knew when this started what to expect as I opened my own practice. I now see that it is bigger than I could’ve ever imagined. By bigger, I don’t mean square footage or dollars or numbers of patients. I mean that I get to see this thing that started as little ole me with a few games and some books in a tiny office turn into this organization with superior therapists and staff who share my love of our profession and bring their hearts to work with them every day. And through those others that I work with, I get to help even more people.
If you are a patient or parent, I am honored that you would be considering us to partner with you and look forward to hopefully meeting you!
If you’ve found us because you are interested in potentially working with us, I believe we have the #bestjobever and I would love the opportunity to meet you.
