We are excited to meet you and your child and to work alongside of you to improve your child’s mobility skills! Your child will first complete a Physical Therapy Evaluation before any treatment sessions will take place.

An Evaluation will consist of the following:

1) Interview

The interview will be an informal discussion between the therapist and caregiver allowing the therapist to get to know your child and family better. The therapist will ask you questions about your child’s medical history, your concerns, goals for the future, and your child’s current mobility skills.

2) Examination

The examination portion will be the majority of the Evaluation.  The therapist will look at your child’s:

  • Strength
  • Range of Motion
  • Flexibility
  • Posture
  • Mobility Skills
  • Movement Patterns

The therapist will complete a portion of examination with a hands-on assessment and will complete the rest through observation of your child during semi-structured play.

3) Wrap-up

Your Evaluation will finish with the therapist giving you an overview of the findings during the Evaluation as well as treatment recommendations. Your therapist may also give you some things to start working on at home.

If at any time you have questions or concerns during the examination or about the treatment recommendations, do not hesitate to ask.

We are excited to meet you and get to know you at your PT Evaluation!
